About Eucalyptus
We’re on a mission to make good health last a lifetime. More than 1 billion people live with obesity worldwide, driving preventable chronic conditions. We’re here to build better long-term care.
Euc is the company behind Juniper, one of the world’s largest weight-management programs combining GLP-1 medication with personalised nutrition, movement support, and clinician-led care from prescribers, nurses, health coaches, pharmacists, and dietitians. Our published clinical research shows that our combined clinical and behavioural approach helps patients lose significantly more weight during their treatment with Juniper by four times.
Our Growth Story:
- 130% YoY revenue growth and a 90% reduction in cash burn, with $100M+ raised from investors including BOND, NewView, Blackbird and Airtree.
- Supported over 350k patients living with obesity across our 5 markets
- Received selective NICE endorsement to provide services to the NHS.
- Tailored our offering to thousand of patients in Germany and Japan
What’s Next?
In 2025, we are charting the path to support hundreds of thousands of patients while launching into new conditions, demographics, and geographies as we move towards our vision of creating a preventive healthcare ecosystem.
We’re building the world’s largest international digital healthcare company. This will be highly challenging and very rewarding, as well as the adventure of a lifetime, working with the best operators you will ever encounter.
If that gets you excited, let’s talk!
About the role (What you’ll be doing)
As Security Engineering Manager you will join our Trust Team (IT, Cybersecurity, Infrastructure) at Eucalyptus and lead the security engineering function that protects the dignity of patients using our healthcare services. You will report to the Head of Security and Infrastructure and take ownership of security engineering execution and team leadership.
You're joining during a period of significant business transformation and international growth. Your first six months will be shaped by that context: scaling our security engineering controls and processes across new markets and embedding security into AI adoption initiatives.
Key responsibilities
- Own the security engineering roadmap and delivery. Set quarterly and annual OKRs, prioritise and steer project execution, and manage BAU workload through repeatable processes and operating rhythms.
- Embed security through major change and growth. Scale our security controls and processes as we launch into new markets; partner with product and engineering to embed security-by-design; and lead incident readiness for our global business.
- Maintain and evolve our AI governance framework. You'll mature our AI governance policies, technical controls and training to reduce risk and accelerate commercial value from AI.
- Grow and develop the security engineering team. Coach for technical depth and judgment under ambiguity, set expectations that create clarity and accountability, and build a team culture of ownership and continuous improvement.
About you (Who you are)
Skills & experience
- Experience leading security engineers and owning delivery for technical security initiatives in a fast-moving product company.
- Comfort operating at the intersection of cloud infrastructure, application security and Governance, Risk and Compliance (GRC). You can credibly steer technical decisions, unblock the team, and hold your own in architectural conversations.
- Proven ability to prioritise and make trade-offs to deliver the highest-impact security initiatives - weighted by commercial value and risk reduction.
- Strong grasp of threats, vulnerabilities and mitigation strategies for cloud-native environments.
- Experience leading cross-functional programmes at scale - M&A integration, new market launches, or enterprise-wide control programmes (logging, DLP, MFA) - is highly valuable and directly relevant to the work ahead.
- Familiarity with governing emerging technology adoption through a mix of policy, training and technical guardrails.
- Excellent written and verbal communication; you translate technical risk for non-technical partners and write in a way that makes processes and decisions durable.
Valuable but not required
- Experience leading incident response across multiple time zones and jurisdictions.
- Familiarity with security standards and privacy frameworks (e.g. ISO 27001, GDPR, Australian Privacy Act).
- Exposure to GCP, Kubernetes, and GraphQL-based architectures.
Behaviours & attitudes
- Strong business analysis and partnering skills. You build trusted relationships across engineering, IT and the business and thrive in collaborative, cross-functional environments.
- Problem-solving orientation. You approach challenges with creativity and persistence. You are comfortable with ambiguity, connect day-to-day work to larger objectives, and know when to simplify versus when to invest.
- Continuous learner. You are intellectually curious and humble. You actively seek new perspectives, adapt based on evidence, and embrace the learning curve of building across diverse health domains and markets.
Why you should join Engineering at Euc
- Own outcomes, not just tickets. You prioritise across project delivery, new markets and emerging technology - your security roadmap is a real portfolio, not a maintenance queue.
- Managers are expected to be force multipliers. Clear expectations, candid feedback and sustainable pacing matter as much as velocity; you help teams ship without burning out on heroics.
- We have a high performance culture. We have a high bar for talent, so you'll get to learn from some of the best engineers in the industry. Security leadership here is about proportionate controls that keep teams moving - not tick-box gates.
- The environment you'll be securing. Frontend: React, React Native + Expo, TypeScript, Apollo, Tailwind. Backend: Node (TypeScript) and Go microservices, Federated GraphQL, gRPC, Protobufs, Pub/Sub and Postgres, hosted on GCP Kubernetes Engine (GKE).
- We'll invest in your growth, development and career. Get mentorship from leaders across Australia, the UK, Germany, and Japan, collaborate with teams in the Philippines and South Africa. Every employee has a yearly Learning and Development budget for courses, books, conferences - anything to help you learn.
At Eucalyptus, we value individuals from all backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives, and we embrace the unique qualities each person brings. When you apply, please let us know of any reasonable adjustments you may need during the interview process.
